Adeptus Titanicus- Titandeath Review

Adeptus Titanicus- Titandeath Review

I have had Titandeath for a while now and taken my time in reading my way through it, and having some other hobby distractions. So following after the break will be my review of the book.

This is a 98 page hardback book as is usual from GW and FW extremely high production value with the now common place book mark. The book is full colour ranging from the classic blue and white text to some stunning full colour plates showing more variant schemes and Legio rules that came in the rulebook in the core game. There have been some minor gripes that the layout on the spine does not match that of the corebook, and I can see their point but in truthfulness this is being picky for the sake of being picky.

So what do you get in the book?

  • Background to one of the largest conflicts in the Horus Heresy fighting across dozens of worlds in the Beta-Garmon Star cluster.
  • Titan Lgeions featuered at the battles with 4 new Loyalist Legios - Warp Runners, Nova Guard, Imperial Hunters and Firebrands- 4 Traitor Legios- Deathheads, God Breakers, Tiger Eyes and Death Stalkers. Each of the new Legios come with their own unique set of Legio rules so plenty of variation for players to choose from and get to grips with.
  • Four new maniples from pairing up Warlord Titans with an honour guard of Warhounds to the hunting pack of the Lupercal Light maniple
  • Narrative Missions: Six new missions allow players to refight the Beta-Garmon campaign
  • Hostile Battlefields: If narrative is not your thing then there are rule for match play.
  • Campaigns: A nice tight set of campaign rules allowing you to build up your Legio and play some linked games seeing your crew gain experience through linked battles. There is also guidelines for creating a map based campagin.
Above is an example of the colour plate featuring the Deathheads

This is the Lupercal Light Maniple based around 3 Warhounds with the option to add another 2. This is a fast light maniple designed to nip around the heels of much larger Titans. When formed into a squadron they get a +2 bonus to their armour rolls rather than the +1 .

I am very tempted to try this Maniple out, always loved the idea of a pack of Warhounds stalking down their prey, reminds me of Hyenas trying to take down Lions on the African plains.

The book is packed with background great colour plates, missions and campaign rule set. So for £22 I think this is great value for money seeing that a standard GW codex and Battletome comes in at £25.

Once I have put together some more Titans and decided which Maniple I am going to work will follow up with some more posts.

Have you got the book? Are you playing Adeptus Titanicus? Be great to hear your comments below.
