Aeronautica Imperialis Wrath of Angels Unboxing

Wrath of Angels was released the back end of the summer and to be honest even though I love the system I completely missed this release. This is now the third box set release for Aeronautica Imperialis and two much waited races have finally entered the skies. Space Marines and Asuryani ( Eldar). I am a fan of the secondary game releases as everything needed for the game is released that weekend.

So what do you get for your money with the release of this box?

Models:

3 Asuryani Nightwings with choice of load-outs

3 Asuryani Phoenix Bombers with choice of load-outs

3 Adeptus Astartes Xiphon Interceptors

2 Adeptus Astartes Storm Eagles

1 Rulebook

2 Quick Reference Sheets

1 Double sided area of engagement (Poster quality map)

Complete set of tokens

8 six sided dice

Transfer sheet for Adeptus Astartes and Asuryani

3 Additional starter scenarios

The models are with the rest of the range are highly detailed and easy to assemble, with most aircraft giving you options on their load-outs. There will be another post on the models once I get round to assembly and painting.

The rulebook contains all the rules you need to learn to play the game so this is a perfect entry point into Aeronautica Imperialis. There also campaign missions and squadron lists for both forces. Sadly this release unlike the other 2 box sets did not come with a hardback book and I feel that release is worse for it. The Adeptus Astartes list has rules for all the releases apart from the iconic Thunderhawk Gunship that has been out of stock since the release weekend. So I am hoping that the rules are in the box set.

The map is made from the poster material but good news there is a hard wearing cardboard variant available. Supporting the release are the usual dice sets and card packs. The dice packs are still available but the card sets have now sold out. So looks like hunting around some local stores to see if they still have stock or braving the auction sites to complete my collection.

All in all this is another solid release and its great to see Games Workshop continue to support this system. November did see a nice update with Necrons on the horizon it is yet to be seen if this going to be another box set or supported through Forge World. Personally I am hoping for another box set as I think these are great little entry points into the hobby.

But I will leave you with some sneak peeks of the upcoming Necrons

Soulblight Gravelords Draft List Making

I received the SoulBlight Gravelords Battletome for Christmas and I have spent the last 2 days reading over the background and the unit information. As I mentioned in my last post I am looking to use the Cursed City box set as the core building blocks for my army.

Cursed City comes with a high number of characters based around Radukar the Wolf. In the current Battletome you would normally have to take all the models as a single choice for 755 Points, however the latest Errata allows you to purchase them as individual models.

So with the models I currently own this is my first list:

Radukar the Wolf: 150 points

Gorslav the Gravekeeper: 75 points

Torgillius the Chamberlain: 115 points

Watch Captain Halgrim: 80 points

Kosagri Nightguard: 95 points

Vargskyr: 115 points

Vyrkos Blood-Born: 125 points

10 Deathrattle Skeletons: 85 points

10 Deadwalker Zombies: 115 points (The minimum size for this unit it 20 but 10 all I got)

Total Points: 955 points

This list is far from being balanced and needs a lot more core troops, I think the Start Collecting box looks the best value for getting some bulk core forces into my army 20 Grave Guard and 5 Black Knights and Mounted Wight Lord.

Over the next couple of days I will have a good read through the book and start breaking down how I want my army to look. I have always been a big fans of lots of Skeletons. So going to see what will be the best character combination to buff and lead the hordes of Skeletons. I do also have some conversion ideas in mind with some of the new Stormcast dragons riders.

So hopefully the rain will hold off tomorrow and I can get some undercoat on my models and start painting the models I have and completing some of the Bingo scoreboard.

Hobby Bingo 2022

 Hobby Bingo 2022

So we are a few days from 2022, and the usual hobby resolutions will come and go. I missed taking part in the Hobby Bingo last year, but with the new sheet in the current White Dwarf I have am going to use this as my focal point for my hobby for 2022. Thinking ahead that I might actually complete 1 sheet I have printed off 5.

I am aiming to complete each of the boxes at Expert level, with Sisters of Battle and Soulblight Gravelords being my 2 focuses for my armies. I am sure that GW and other systems will distract me throughout the year. But my aim is to have two complete 2,000 point armies by the end of the year.

Other side projects that I am looking to complete are Cursed City box set and the 2 recent Kill Team boxes.

I am looking forward to completing some boxes, and see what the year has in store for the hobby.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
