Solar Auxilia First Cohort for new army

Sat down over the Christmas break and planned out the first set of forces for Legions Imperialis, with most of the group starting with Space Marines, I decided to go with the Solar Auxilia as my starting point.

The core starter set gives you the basic core of a small detachment and no where near the 3000 points that is recommended by GW for games of Legions Imperialis. So I did some swaps and have double the core starter set for the Auxilia and picked up another box of Infantry and 2 boxes of Bane Blades. Left over from my Aeronautica Imperialis I have some Heresy based flyers to add to the force.

So here goes with my first list:

Starting with a Solar Auxilia Sub-Cohort

HQ: Legate Commander Detachment 16 Points

Sub Total: 16 Points

Auxilia Lasrifles: Auxilia Lasrifle Tercio 30 Points

Auxilia Lasrifles: Auxilia Lasrifle Tercio 30 Points

Auxilia with Flamers 12 Points

Veletarii 12 Points

Auxilia Ogryn Charonite Section 50 Points

Auxilia Veletaris Storm Section 40 Points

Sub Total:174Points

Auxilia Lasrifles: Auxilia Lasrifle Tercio 30 Points

Auxilia Lasrifles: Auxilia Lasrifle Tercio 30 Points

Auxilia with Flamers 12 Points

Veletarii 12 Points

Auxilia Ogryn Charonite Section 50 Points

Auxilia Veletaris Storm Section 40 Points

Sub Total:174Points

Support:

Auxilia Veletaris Storm Section 40 Points

Sub Total 40 Points

Running Total: 404 Points

So this is going to form the Core Block of my starting force. Once I have this painted up I will look at the next section for the army.

Most of the starting force is undercoated and will start the painting of the first set of units in the New Year.

Horus Heresy: Sons of Horus Army List First Draft

Received an email today from the events team that they are holding another Heresy event in November and its two dayer 3000 points. So have the time booked off with her indoors, so thought was time to draft out my first army list

HQPOINTS
Abaddon250
5 Justaerin Terminators275
Multi-Melta25
Cataphractii Praetor135
Magna Combi-weapon10
Paragon Blade15
710

I have an idea that i saw on Instareddwer for an Abbandon conversion but I do love his stats as a leader for the army.

TROOPSPOINTS
Tactical Squad100
Nuncio Vox10
Power Sword10
Plasma Pistol10
Rhino35
Dozer blade5
Tactical Squad100
Nuncio Vox, Vexilla20
Chain Bayoney20
Power Sword Plasm20
Tactical Squad100
Nuncio Vox, Vex20
Bayonet10
Power Hammer10
Flamer2
Tactical Support Squad145
Rotor Cannons50
Vox, Vex20
687

Troops are built from the starter box with some rotor cannons added as some support. one unit in a rhino to rush forward to take an hold an objective.

ELITESPOINTS
10 Cataphractii325
Two Lightning Claws100
Spartan350
Contemptor Dread175
Gravis AutoCAnnon10
960
The Elites are coming in at nearly a third of points. I do think that the Spartan is expensive for what it can do but there is a need for some heavy weapons in the army. But the spartan could be the first item to be dropped from the army if points are tight.

HEAVYPOINTS
Heavy Support100
Vox, Vex20
Heavy Support100
Missile Launcher25
Vox, Vex20
Kratos300
Sponson Volk15
Hull F,R,L Volk5
Leviathan270
Siege Drill5
860

Heavy choices are what I have from the box set, the Kratos and the Leviathan I picked up at the weekend.

The army at the moment is 217 points over so I am prob going to trim out the Spartan to start off with and an in some more troops, But have a test game coming up in a months time so I can see how I want my army to play. At the moment my idea is to engage the opponent over the objectives.

Next post up this week will be showing the progress made on the army so far.

Anyone else heading to the event?

Soulblight Gravelords Draft List Making

I received the SoulBlight Gravelords Battletome for Christmas and I have spent the last 2 days reading over the background and the unit information. As I mentioned in my last post I am looking to use the Cursed City box set as the core building blocks for my army.

Cursed City comes with a high number of characters based around Radukar the Wolf. In the current Battletome you would normally have to take all the models as a single choice for 755 Points, however the latest Errata allows you to purchase them as individual models.

So with the models I currently own this is my first list:

Radukar the Wolf: 150 points

Gorslav the Gravekeeper: 75 points

Torgillius the Chamberlain: 115 points

Watch Captain Halgrim: 80 points

Kosagri Nightguard: 95 points

Vargskyr: 115 points

Vyrkos Blood-Born: 125 points

10 Deathrattle Skeletons: 85 points

10 Deadwalker Zombies: 115 points (The minimum size for this unit it 20 but 10 all I got)

Total Points: 955 points

This list is far from being balanced and needs a lot more core troops, I think the Start Collecting box looks the best value for getting some bulk core forces into my army 20 Grave Guard and 5 Black Knights and Mounted Wight Lord.

Over the next couple of days I will have a good read through the book and start breaking down how I want my army to look. I have always been a big fans of lots of Skeletons. So going to see what will be the best character combination to buff and lead the hordes of Skeletons. I do also have some conversion ideas in mind with some of the new Stormcast dragons riders.

So hopefully the rain will hold off tomorrow and I can get some undercoat on my models and start painting the models I have and completing some of the Bingo scoreboard.

Speed freeks - Army List

As part of my January Hobby Resolutions I listed planning out my new 40k army with Orks being the chosen force. Having read through the codex I have settled on Speed freeks as the start to my new army.

I think I am like many Ork collectors out there that have been drawn in by the lure of the new vehicles that came out with the recent release.

Check after the break for the first draft of my new army.

Necromunda Escher Gang List

So Necromunda is coursing through the veins at the moment, working hard to finish the Goliath gang so that it is there to be used by some of the guys who have not yet had time to collect their figures.
My gang however will be from House Escher. Always had a love for the pin ups of the Underhive and with Belladonna taking up the character space, they will form the basis of my growing gang hoping that they can afford the services of Belladonna at some point.

Check after the break my starting gang list.

Ultramarines 100 Power Point List

Ultramarines 100 Power Point List

So been a long time since I talked any 40k with a lot of my recent focus being D&D. A good mate said that he fancied a game of 40K as he did not want to forgot the rules, but more importantly he had unknown to me he had snuck in a copy of Forge Bane and some other Ad Mech bits and pieces. So with the spanner thrown down as it were. I spent Sunday pre Grand Prix working up a 100 Power Point List.

Check after the break the break down of my list.

Team Yankee: Stripes Army List

Team Yankee: Stripes Army List

So myself and Jonathan found that our blog had been linked on the front page of the Flames of War page in this weeks update. So no pressure now lol.

I mentioned in my last post that I was looking at writing up my army list this week. This lunch time I put the finishing touches to the list.

We have decided that Jonathan's pesky Ruskies will be attacking through Hof heading towards Bayreuth, Standing in there way is the 2nd ACR. So with a little bit of background behind the force selection I cracked open Stripes.

I am using the Cavalry Troop list as I love the idea of scouting M113's spotting the advancing tanks allowing the M901's and M1's to ambush to take out a few tanks before heading to a new prepared position.

So on with the list:

HQ: Armoured Cavalry Troop HQ 1pt

Troop:

2 x M1 Abrams 16 pts

2 x M1 Abrams 16 pts

1 M113 Scout Section 2 pts

1 M113 Scout Section 2 pts

Support:

2 x AH-1 Cobra 7 pts

Total Points: 44 pts

I think this list will give me some flexible options depending on what the Ruskies throw into the front line.

Next post will be the next stage of the construction of the army.

Comments always welcome.

Army List: The Mouldering Claw

Army List: The Mouldering Claw

Morning fellow  Bloggers and Blog readers, todays post will be taking you through my 120 points power rating Death Guard army list, I am hoping that I am going to be able to attend the Throne of Skulls at the end of November.

The new format is all about sporting behaviour and themed armies rather than win at all costs. I love the idea and the sentiment behind that, however I am under no illusion that with the points still being more heavily in favour of the points of the win, there will still be the players that want to turn up an have the power WAAC armies.

So with 120 points that can be spread over 3 detachments I sat down with the new Death Guard codex some pen, paper and a cup of tea.

Army List: 30k Space Wolves

Army List: 30k Space Wolves

My current reading has been Thousand Sons, and the Forge World Inferno book, I have been looking to start a new 30k army for some time now, I have always been drawn to Space Wolves and there were one of the armies I fondly remember collecting when I started in the hobby many years ago.
As you will have seen from my other posts I am currently working on 5 Primaris Marines in a more modern Space Wolves colour scheme.

Army Lists: Path To Glory

Army Lists: Path To Glory

Could not help but be inspired by this piece of art work and this definitely drove my purchasing choice for the core start to my Stormcast army.

Still being new to Age of Sigmar I am still getting to grips with the 3 playing options. Being a long time WFB player I am certainly used to points match games. Not sure I am keen on 'Hey bring some models and we will roll some dice' approach. So to try a new take on gaming I have chosen to run a small Paths to Glory campaign with a couple of friends as we are all new to AoS.

Champion: Lord Aquilor. This gives me 4 units to choose from

Hero: Knight Questor

Infantry: 3 Prosecutors

Infantry : 10 Liberators

Mounted: 3 Vanguard Palladors

I pretty much picked the units I purchased this month and 10 Liberators from the starter set and the Knight Questor from the Talisman box set. Hopefully will get my first game next week, and will attempt my first Battle Report.

Any one else used Paths to Glory as their way to play? If so pop a comment or a link.
