Scarlett Requiem Continued

Delivered this week is 2 terrain pieces from my good friends at 3D Kingdoms these some of the environments pieces from the Scarlett Requiem designed by Loot Studios. The above piece is the Ornate Organ and will be used to play the haunting music for an upcoming D&D game that I will be running.

Above is the Regal Throne just waiting on the throne itself to finish the piece off. The printing is so crisp and clean. Jay and Tony at 3D Kingdoms really do go the extra mile to make sure that your sculpts are cleaned and ready for you to get the paint on.

Cannot wait to start painting these this week.

Scarlet Requiem and Hobby Update

So there has been a long break in posting, a lot of it has just been motivation in the hobby and finding something that I really wanted to focus on. With a severe lack of drive or passion to really paint anything the hobby sat empty and virtually no purchases were made in terms of buying miniatures. My tabletop gaming has literally ground to a halt and that used to be a major motivation for painting models.

Roleplaying has now almost moved exclusively to Online TableTop using VTTs. Our regular gaming group now only meets every 2 weeks and I find it very hard to remember what has happened in the previous session.

It does sound a little bit like all is doom and gloom in my hobby world.

With taking time to reflect on my hobby and gaming. I came to realise that I am time poor when it comes to engaging in tabletop gaming. The days of having a day or half a day for gaming seems to be in the past as my gaming network have other commitments than gaming.

I still love keeping up to date with the GW hobby and figures that they release but in terms of gaming I have reduced myself so far down to 1 system which is Legion Imperialis, Easy to collect a box is effectively 1 selection in the army.

Roleplaying is really the hobby I am dedicating the most time to in regards to prep work. I run a weekly session using The Forge VTT for D&D. With the release of the new rules last year we are now starting to see a lot of independent material coming out. (more on this to follow)

Eve Online, some may call this a second job, and I think if you have not found the right people to fly with it can feel like a chore to log on and hit what you are looking for. I have been very lucky that I have found 2 like minded Space Idiots to fly in null sec with.

But back to the image at the top of the page. This is  Baron Voyd from Loot Studios and printed for me by 3DKingdoms. Based on the popular D&D Vampire Strahd. This is the Action pose version of the figure. Loot Studios do great bundle packs based on a theme that come out each month. This is a Vampire themed adventure bundle

Dungeons & Dragons Baphomet WIP

With last weeks bad times slowly behind me, decided it was back to the hobby desk. I needed a change from the Ultramarines, and I had recently picked up Baphomet from Gale Force Nine. It's a really lovely sculpt. Very clean and crisp resin model cut into a number of parts arms, tail, head and crown. As with all resin models of this size there are some mold cut lines to clean and air bubbles to fill. I am really impressed with the quality of the model and cannot wait to start getting some paint on the model.

Massive Darkness Malleus Completed

Massive Darkness Malleus Completed

Finally completed Malleus from the Cool Mini Or Not Massive Darkness expansion. This has been sat on the painting table for a while now. I have decided that I am going to paint everything that is sat on the desk to give me a clear start for the start of the year. Malleus is a Fighter of Faith that will be used in both Massive Darkness and my Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.

Barbarian jumps on to bear rolls to attack zombie recklessly oops

So Thurs night was our regular D&D session. Kratos the Half Orc Barbarian enraged by the foul odours emanating from the fountain flew into a rage, leaping atop of the shape shifted Druid swung his mighty axe. What could go wrong with having an advantage on the roll......

D&D City Map Avolantia

D&D City Map Avolantia
My mate Jay is running a one shot D&D adventure next week. I am also looking to start improving my artist skills.

So spent today knocking up a map for the town his adventure is set in.

Used pen to lay out a grid and then added the detail in pencil before going over in pen.

I am quite happy with my first map attempt and will looking to start my own city map next week.
