Morning fellow Bloggers and Blog readers.
Starting a new weekly posting called card of the week.
We have been playing a lot of 8th Edition 40k since the release and in the opening weeks releases GW brought out a deck of Cards called Open War. This deck of cards contains 5 separate decks that are designed to allow players to grab their armies and quickly choose a Deployment set up, the missions objective, and a twist to the mission. There are also Ruse decks and Sudden Death which come into play depending on the difference between the 2 armies scores.
So after the break see what Twist card was pulled at random.
So this weeks card of the week is Orbital Debris.
'Spawned by the death of some void-borne warship or station, blazing wreckage streaks down from on high to detonate indiscriminately across the battlefield'
Each player rolls 3 dice at the start of their turn. For each roll of a 6, they must pick a separate enemy unit and inflict D3 mortal wounds upon it.
We had this turn up in our game last week, and for most of the game our units dodged the falling debris however as we were getting to the gritty end of the game my units of Las-cannons took a huge chunk of a starship and 3 valiant marines were wiped. This did prove to be a game changer and my opponents heavy armour then starting taking its toil on my forces.
Did I feel cheated by the random death.......No I found it a refreshing twist to the game. Never quite sure when fate would strike, it felt like our battle was part of a bigger picture.
So if you have not yet picked up the Open War I would fully encourage you to go out and pick one up.
Check in next Sunday for the Card of the Week.
Cheers
